CHARLOTTE, NC – In a showdown of senior star tandems, 8th-seeded San Diego State held of 9th-seeded St. John’s for a hard-fought 76-64 victory that was much closer than the final score.
Playing against his former team, Dwayne Pollee II had fifteen points and three steals, while fellow senior forward, J.J. O’Brien, led the Aztecs with eighteen points on 8-of-12 shooting.
The senior back-court pairing of Sir’Dominic Pointer and D’Angelo Harrison were the eye of the Red Storm, carrying Steve Lavin’s squad with eighteen and 21 points, respectively, in the losing effort.
