CLEVELAND, OH – The Bearcats kept it close for about three minutes… but then the rout was on, as the top-seeded Kentucky Wildcats never let up on their way to a lopsided 78-39 victory over 5th-seeded West Virginia.
Five different Wildcats scored in double figures, led by Freshman forward Trey Lyles’s fourteen points.
Senior Juwan Staten carried West Virginia with fourteen points in his last game in a Mountaineer uniform.
John Calipari’s squad will continue their pursuit of perfection on Saturday, when they take on the 3rd-seeded Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in the Midwest Regional Final.
Gary Cohen and Bill Frieder called the action on Westwood One Sports.
