Big East Women’s Championship Highlights: St. John’s beats Creighton to capture title


CHICAGO – Aaliyah Lewis had 14 points, Aliyyah Handford added 11 and St. John’s played stifling defense to capture the Red Storm’s first Big East Women’s Tournament title since 1988 with a 50-37 victory over Creighton on Tuesday night.

Danaejah Grant added nine points and was named the tournament’s most outstanding player. The Red Storm held Creighton to under 25 percent shooting from the field.

John Sadak and Patricia Babcock McGraw called the action on Westwood One Sports.
