First Round Highlights: Purdue rumbles past Vermont, into Second Round

03/16/2017

MILWAUKEE, WI – With an 80-70 come-from-behind victory, fourth-seeded Purdue ended thirteenth-seeded Vermont’s 21-game winning streak.  Matt Painter’s squad also ended a drought, as the Boilermakers advance to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012.

The West Lafayette team got off to a sluggish start, but junior forward Vince Edwards got hot in the second half and finished with a game-high 21 points.

Freshman phenom Anthony Lamb carried the Catamounts with 20 points and 9 rebounds in the losing effort.

Brandon Gaudin and Kelly Tripucka called the action on Westwood One Sports.
