Edge, McClain shoot Knights, Bruins into First Round

Darnell Edge shot the lights out, propelling Fairleigh Dickinson to a second half comeback win over Prairie View A&M, behind 7-of-9 shooting from the perimeter and a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. In Tuesday’s First Four nightcap, Kevin McClain poured in 29 points to carry Belmont past Temple.

Three Knights starters played all 40 minutes and scored in double figures, led by Edge’s 33 points, as the Hackensack, New Jersey school claimed its first NCAA Tournament win. Its reward: a Thursday night meeting with top-seeded Gonzaga.

The 11th-seeded Bruins advance to face 6th-seeded Maryland on Thursday. Meanwhile, in defeat, Temple head coach Fran Dunphy paced the sidelines for the final time before retiring.
