It’ll be a pair of number-one seeds in the NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship Game after Notre Dame beat second-seeded UConn 81-76 to give the Fighting Irish a shot at back-to-back championships. Standing in their way is top overall seed Baylor, which beat Oregon 72-67.
Notre Dame trailed UConn by nine points with 7:55 to play, but late-game heroics from Arike Ogunbowale and a key block from Brianna Turner helped the Irish overcome the deficit and give themselves the lead for good in a wild game featuring 26 lead changes.
Baylor and Oregon were neck and neck for most of the game, with Baylor scoring in the paint and Oregon firing from beyond the arc, but in the end Baylor held Oregon to just 5-19 shooting in the fourth quarter to make it to the national championship.
