Lipscomb came back late in the second half–finishing the game on a 14-0 run–to outlast Wichita State 71-64. In Thursday night’s championship game, the Bisons will face second-seeded Texas, who avenged two Big 12 defeats to TCU with a 58-44 victory over the Horned Frogs in Tuesday’s nightcap.
ASUN player of the year Garrison Matthews poured in 34 points to lead the Bisons’ charge, while fellow senior Rob Marberry delivered 14 of his own on an efficient 7-f-9 shooting from the field. Freshman Dexter Dennis had 13 points for the Shockers in the losing effort.
Guard Kerwin Roach II propelled the Longhorn attack all night, finishing with 22 points. Fellow senior Dylan Osetkowski added 13 points while pulling down nine rebounds for Shaka Smart’s squad.
