After failing to make the 2019 NCAA Tournament with a 16-16 overall record, Shaka Smart’s Texas Longhorns remained poised to conclude the 2019 college basketball season on a positive note. And on Thursday night, the Longhorns delivered, capping their season with an NIT Championship Game victory over Lipscomb, 81-66, at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Behind 19 points and 11 rebounds from Dylan Osetkowski as well as three other double figure scorers, Texas claimed its first NIT title since 1978.
