Princeton headed to Sweet 16, Arkansas knocks out Kansas

15th-seeded Princeton is headed to the Sweet 16 and defending champion Kansas is headed home prior to the second weekend of the 2023 Men’s NCAA Tournament. A pair of 1-seeds and 2-seeds also advanced to the Regional Semifinals on second round Saturday.


After shocking Arizona on Thursday, 15th-seeded Princeton pulled away from Missouri in the second half en route to a 78-63 win in Sacramento.


Earlier in the day, defending national champion Kansas was ousted by 8-seed Arkansas in Des Moines.


Propelled by a strong defensive effort, 4th-seeded Tennessee ran away from 5th-seeded Duke late in the second half on Saturday afternoon in Orlando.


Top-seed Alabama impressed late night in Birmingham, running away from 8th-seeded Maryland and winning by 22 points, 73-51


Trailing 41-31 at halftime, the Houston Cougars erupted for a 50-point second half to cruise past 9-seed Auburn, 81-64.


2nd-seeded Texas made its last six shots from the field in Des Moines, edging Penn State 71-66 to advance to the Sweet 16.


2nd-seeded UCLA led for more than 37 minutes against Northwestern and the Bruins advanced to their third straight Sweet 16 after a 68-63 victory.


In the day’s first game of the day, 5th-seeded San Diego State blew out 13th-seeded Furman 75-52, 2 days after Furman stunned Virginia with a last second game-winning shot.
