NC State rallies, South Carolina survives in Women’s Sweet 16

NC State completed a 20-point turnaround after being down 10 at the half by defeating Stanford 77-67 to advance to their third elite 8 in program history.


The Women’s Sweet 16 action began in Albany, where Oregon State became the first team to punch its ticket to the Elite Eight with a 70-65 win over Notre Dame in a game that featured 8 ties and 11 lead changes.


Albany’s second game appeared headed for a blowout with top-seed South Carolina leading Indiana by 22 early in the second half. However, the Hoosiers stormed back and got within two points in the final minute before the Gamecocks hung on for a 79-75 win.
