LOUISVILLE, KY – With under 8 minutes left, the Marquette Golden Eagles were down by 5, and head coach Buzz Williams had completely lost his voice.
But whatever message Williams conveyed to his team during a time-out proved once again that silence can be golden.
Marquette embarked on a 21-7 run to close out the game, sending Murray State to just their second defeat this season, by a 62-53 final. The Golden Eagles move on to the Sweet 16, where they will meet either Florida or Norfolk State.
Jae Crowder had a monster game for the victors, with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Isaiah Canaan had 16 points and 6 rebounds for Murray State.
Ted Robinson and Kyle Macy called the action on the Westwood One Radio Network.
