AUBURN HILLS, MI – A team known for their relentless, full-court pressure defense opposing a team beset by suspension and illness was a recipe for a demolition, and the end result reflected it.
VCU crushed Akron, 88-42 in the final game of the night from The Palace of Auburn Hills. The shorthanded Zips simply did not have the firepower to keep up with Shaka Smart’s Rams, who turned the game into a track meet. Troy Daniels paced the VCU attack with a game-high 23 points.
Tom McCarthy and Kelly Tripucka called the action on Westwood One Sports.
