SOUTH BEND, IN – Notre Dame’s unbeaten season will continue to the Women’s Final Four after the Irish downed second-seeded Baylor 88-69 Monday night in the South Bend Regional final – but the victory didn’t come without a scare.
Star forward Natalie Achonwa scored 19 points to lead the way, but left the game late in the second half after crumpling to the floor with an injury to her left leg. She will get an MRI on her knee on Tuesday.
Notre Dame improved to 36-0 on the season. Baylor got 33 points from Odyssey Sims, but only 36 from the rest of the team combined.
Jason Benetti and Krista Blunk called the action on WestwoodOne Sports.
