MILWAUKEE, WI – Fifth-seeded Iowa State survived an up-and-down track meet, defeating twelfth-seeded Nevada 84-73 to advance to the Second Round.
Senior guard Monte Morris led a balanced Cyclones attack with 19 points, 8 assists, and 8 rebounds.
The Wolf Pack were paced by the sophomore tandem of Cameron Oliver and Jordan Caroline, who scored 22 and 20 points, respectively. Alas, only using six players, it might have been the WAC champion’s lack of depth that was their ultimate undoing down the stretch.
Brandon Gaudin and Kelly Tripucka called the action on Westwood One Sports.
