16-seed Fairleigh Dickinson stuns Purdue in First Round action!!

For the second time in NCAA Tournament history, a 16-seed knocked off a 1-seed in Friday’s First Round action of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. The Fairleigh Dickinson Knights will forever be etched in the history of the NCAA Tournament with their shocking 63-58 win over 1-seed Purdue in Columbus.


Ahead for more than 25 minutes, FDU was led by Columbus native Sean Moore’s 19 points en route to perhaps the most stunning upset in NCAA Tournament history.


In the final game of the day in Denver, 6th-seeded TCU knocked down a game-winning shot in the final seconds just moments after 11th-seeded Arizona State tied the game at 70.


Florida Atlantic also advanced on a made bucket in the final seconds to escape past Memphis in Columbus.


4th seeded UConn had no trouble with Rick Pitino’s Iona Gaels in Albany.


Trailing by as many as eight points in the second half, 5th-seeded Miami ended the game on a 16-1 run to defeat Drake, 63-56, in Albany.


6th-seeded Kentucky maintained a multi-possession lead in its 61-53 win over Providence in Greensboro. Wildcats star center Oscar Tshiebwe had a game-high 25 rebounds.


Early in the day, 10th-seeded Michigan State sent USC home after a 72-62 win.


In perhaps the defensive performance of the day, 11th-seeded Pittsburgh held Iowa State to just 23-percent shooting, en route to a 59-41 win in Greensboro.


Fresh off a Big East Tournament title, 2nd-seeded Marquette blew out Vermont, 78-61, in Columbus.


Trailing by as many as 7 points in the first half, 3rd-seeded Gonzaga cruised in the second stanza, defeating Grand Canyon 82-70 in Denver.


31 points from Ryan Kalkbrenner paced Creighton to a 72-63 win over NC State in Denver.


A strong defensive effort in Albany helped push Saint Mary’s to a 63-51 win over VCU.


Xavier survived a scare against Kennesaw State in Greensboro.


Powered by a huge second half, the third-seeded Baylor Bears advanced with an 18-point First Round win over Baylor.


Kansas State dispatched of Montana State, 77-65, in the fourth and final game of the day in Greensboro.


4th-seeded Indiana jumped out to an 8-point lead over Kent State and picked up a 71-60 win in Albany.
