Alaa Abdelnaby is a former college basketball star at Duke University and five-year NBA veteran. Born in Egypt, Alaa grew up in northeast New Jersey and was a McDonald’s & Parade All-American for Bloomfield High School. Alaa chose Duke, where he had a stellar four-year career that included three trips to the Final Four. He was a 3rd-Team All-ACC selection as a senior.
The Portland Trail Blazers then made Alaa the 25th pick in the 1990 NBA Draft. In his five years in the NBA, Alaa played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors.
In addition to his duties at Westwood One, Alaa is a college basketball studio analyst for CBS Sports Network. He resides in New Jersey.
