Every week on College Football Country, we take you around the nation to find out more about one of the things that makes Saturdays so great: tailgating.
As the only Division I football game slated for this weekend, Army versus Navy is well deserving of the pomp and circumstance it receives. This year’s game is in Philadelphia and supporters of our military, general fans of the game and, of course, Army and Navy fans join together in the City of Brotherly Love for this time-honored tradition and the fanfare that takes place.
And for those of you in Philadelphia, you have to be thinking cheesesteaks before the game. One place to be sure to check out is the indoor tailgating in Citizens Bank Park’s Hall of Fame Club, which will feature two hours of food, beverages and entertainment. The party begins at noon and tickets may be purchased online ahead of time if you wish. For the price of admission, you can eat all the cheesesteaks and hoagies you want, and drink all the soda or beer you desire too. There will also be live music and face painting.
Another event worth checking out is the Patriot Games, a collection of five events that pit the Cadets and Midshipmen against each other off the playing field – the winner earns the bragging rights! The Patriot Games start with the “Rocky Relay”—up the stairs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art—yes, the ones Sylvester Stallone made famous in the movie, and it concludes with the Stadium Obstacle Relay, which takes place in the stadium on game day.
