BOSTON, MA – Top-seeded Syracuse survived torrid three-point shooting and two last-second shots to defeat 4th-seeded Wisconsin and advance to the Elite Eight with a 64-63 win on Thursday night.
Trailing by one with under five seconds remaining, the Badgers’ Jordan Taylor and Josh Gasser each attempted shots that would have won the game, but fierce defensive pressure from Syracuse held the line and preserved the win.
C.J. Fair scored 15 points to pace Syracuse. The Orange (34-2) advance to face the winner of Cincinnati and Ohio State in Boston on Saturday.
Jared Berggren and Jordan Taylor each scored 17 points to lead Wisconsin (26-10) in the loss. The Badgers finished an astonishing 14-27 (51.9%) from three-point range.
