SAN ANTONIO, TX – Iowa State advanced to the round of 32 Friday night with a 93-75 victory against North Carolina Central, but will be forced to move on without leading scorer Georges Niang, who fractured his foot during the game and will miss the rest of the season. Niang scored 24 points in the victory, sinking four three-pointers to help the Cyclones pull away from the Eagles as the second half wore on.
Jeremy Ingram scored 28 points for N.C Central in the loss, but five Iowa State players scoring in double figures proved to be too much for the 14th-seeded Eagles.
Brad Sham and Will Perdue called the action on WestwoodOne Sports.
