This week’s AutoZone “In the Zone” Player of the Week for college football is East Carolina quarterback Shane Carden.
The senior from Houston led the way as the Pirates upset 17th-ranked Virginia Tech on the road in Blacksburg by a final score of 28-21.
Carden started the game red hot, tossing three first-quarter touchdowns to stake ECU to a 21-0 lead. Then, after the Hokies tied the game at 21-21 late in the fourth quarter, Carden got hot again, connecting on consecutive plays with Cam Worthy to set the Pirates up with first-and-goal at the 1. From there, Carden ran one in for the game-winning score and a major upset victory.
Shane Carden was definitely “In the Zone” and he’s our AutoZone College Football Player of the Week.
