PITTSBURGH, PA – Top-seeded Villanova opened up a 23-point lead to close the first half and then never let their foot off the gas pedal, cruising to a 93-52 second-round win over 16th-seed Lafayette.
It was somewhat reminiscent of their championship performance against Georgetown 30 years ago, as the team shot a combined 63% from the field, with six different Wildcats scoring in double figures. Dylan Ennis led ‘Nova’s barrage with sixteen points.
The senior forward from Australia, Dan Trist, led the Leopards with eighteen points and nine rebounds in his final game as a collegian.
Scott Graham and Kevin Grevey called the action on Westwood One Sports.
