NEW ORLEANS – Tight end Benjamin Watson had a career night and the New Orleans defense slowed down the high-flying Falcons as the Saints defeated Atlanta 31-21 on Thursday night to open Week 6 of the NFL season.
Watson caught a touchdown while matching his career-high with 10 catches and setting a new personal best with 127 yards receiving as the Saints improved to 2-4.
Michael Mauti blocked a punt and scooped it up and took it four yards for a special teams touchdown and the New Orleans defense was also strong all night, forcing three turnovers and sacking Matt Ryan five times on the night.
Atlanta lost for the first time all season and is now 5-1 on the year.
