First Round Highlights: Miami survives gritty Buffalo challenge

03/17/2016

PROVIDENCE, RI – Third-seeded Miami (Fla.) got everything they could handle and more from fourteenth-seeded Buffalo–who just wouldn’t go away–but the Hurricanes held on to claim a hard-earned 79-72 victory.

Senior guard Angel Rodriguez–a transfer from Kansas State–led all scorer with 24 points for Jim Larranaga’s squad.  Miami also benefited from double-doubles from Kamari Murphy and Davon Reed.

Freshman forward Nick Persons paced the Bulls with a career-high 20 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the perimeter in the losing effort.

Scott Graham and Donny Marshall called the action on Westwood One Sports.
