AUGUSTA, GA – On a day when it looked like Jordan Spieth would make Masters history with his second straight wire-to-wire victory, everything changed on the second nine as Spieth faltered and England’s Danny Willett took advantage.
Willett fired a bogey-free 67 to take the green jacket. Spieth, who led by five shots after a birdie at 9, began his second nine with back-to-back bogeys before twice finding the water at 12 and carding a quadruple bogey 7.
Willett is just the second Englishman to win the Masters after three-time champion Nick Faldo.
