Virginia wins after controversial call, Texas Tech advances to National Championship Game

With a combined 15 lead changes and 10 ties, the Final Four once again delivered on Saturday night in Minneapolis. In the night’s first game, Virginia edged Auburn, 63-62, after Virginia’s Kyle Guy knocked down three free throws with less than one second to go following a controversial foul call. Later, Texas Tech advanced past Michigan State with a 61-51 win inside U.S. Bank Stadium to set up a meeting of Cavaliers and Red Raiders in Monday’s National Championship Game.


Behind a 21 point, 9 rebound and 6 assist performance from Ty Jerome and 15 points from Kyle Guy, Virginia advanced to its first National Championship Game in program history.


Paced by Matt Mooney’s game-high 22 points, Texas Tech made the most of its first Final Four appearance in school history with a 10-point triumph over Michigan State, 61-51.
