BOSTON, MA – Though never mistaken for one of college basketball’s truly elite programs, it may surprise some people to find out that Ohio State has not won a men’s basketball national championship since 1960.
The Buckeyes came close in 2007, reaching the title game against Florida, but they were defeated by Billy Donovan’s Gators to keep Ohio State’s title drought intact.
This year, as the 2nd-seed in the East Regional, the Buckeyes once again find themselves inching closer to that elusive national title…but a huge test in the form of top-seeded Syracuse awaits them with a Final Four berth hanging in the balance.
Kevin Kugler caught up with Ohio State head coach Thad Matta ahead of the game.
