ATLANTA – The Falcons’ intercepted Drew Brees five times on Thursday night and moved within striking distance of the NFC South crown with a 23-13 win over New Orleans.
Atlanta built a 17-0 lead early and the defense held the Saints’ prolific quarterback in check throughout the night, ending Brees’ NFL-record 54-game streak with at least one touchdown pass in the process.
Atlanta improved to 11-1 and now clinch the division with a Tampa Bay loss at Denver on Sunday. New Orleans dropped to 5-7 and will likely need to win out to have even a small hope of a playoff appearance.
Ian Eagle and Trent Green called the action on Westwood One Sports.
