SAN DIEGO – The Chargers broke open a close game with 21 straight fourth-quarter points – including two defensive touchdowns – as San Diego defeated the Kansas City Chargers 31-13 on Thursday Night Football.
As the fourth quarter began, the Chargers led just 10-6, but after an eight-play, 80-yard drive that culminated in Philip Rivers’ 13-yard TD pass to Malcom Floyd, the San Diego defense took over.
First, Shaun Phillips recovered Matt Cassel’s fumble in the end zone for a touchdown, then Demorrio Williams picked off a deflected Cassel pass and took it to the house for another score.
Kevin Kugler and Trent Green called the action on Westwood One Sports.
