PHILADELPHIA – Top-seeded Syracuse scored twice in the final minute to rally past Denver and earn a spot in Monday’s men’s lacrosse national championship.
Luke Cometti scored with :59 left to tie the game at 8-8 before Derek Maltz notched the game-winner with less than :20 on the clock. The 9-8 advantage was the Orange’s only lead of the game.
Denver had taken the lead less than one minute into the first quarter and was up 6-2 midway through the third quarter before Syracuse started its big rally.
