Sunday Night Football on Westwood One to feature The Lost Trailers

08/23/2013

NEW YORK – Westwood One, the largest independent national audio media company in the U.S., and the exclusive network of the NFL primtetime package, today announced a collaboration with the three-time ACM nominated band The Lost Trailers. The band has recorded new theme music for Westwood One Sports’ Sunday Night Football program. The theme music is a tailored version of their single, “It’s Goin’ Down Tonight” which will feature football highlights, sound bites, and customized lyrics.

The new theme music, performed by The Lost Trailers and powered by Early Shares Music, will debut during Westwood One Sports’ first regular season NFL broadcast on Thursday, September 5 which kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET.  The highly anticipated season opener between the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos will feature Kevin Harlan and Boomer Esiason behind the microphones. Sunday Night Football on Westwood One Sports begins at 8:00 PM Eastern each week on radio stations across America. Kevin Kugler and Hall of Famer James Lofton are the broadcast team.

Westwood One Sports, formerly Westwood One, has been an NFL network radio partner for more than four decades and the exclusive network radio partner since 1987. All stations airing Westwood One Sports’ play-by-play NFL Football coverage can be found using the Station Finder. Westwood One’s NFL Primetime broadcasts can also be heard in their entirety on SiriusXM Satellite Radio, NFL.com/Audiopass, and the NFL Mobile App available to Verizon Wireless subscribers.

“We are truly excited to be a part of the NFL broadcasts on Westwood One,” said founding member Stokes Nielson. “We are huge sports fans and we can’t wait to help the announcers kick off every Sunday night game, because it’s goin’ down tonight, every Sunday night, all over America!”  The Lost Trailers previously collaborated with Westwood One Sports, customizing their top-10 single “Holler Back” for the network’s opening montage in Super Bowl XLIII.

The Lost Trailers is a country music project of songwriter/producer Stokes Nielson. The first album entitled “The Story of the New Age Cowboy” was discovered by Willie Nelson in the spring of 2000 who invited them to perform at his legendary 4th of July Picnic. The Lost Trailers have risen from a hard touring regional act to earning three ACM Nominations and several Top 20 hits on country radio while opening for Sugarland, Taylor Swift, and many others.  They were the only wholly independent country music act, with no ties to major labels through promotion or distribution, to field two Top 40 singles in 2012.

“Traveling around the country for NFL games, I see the passion, the excitement, and the synergy between country music and football,” said Howard Deneroff, Westwood One Sports’ EVP/Executive Producer.  “When I heard this song, I knew it was a natural fit for our broadcasts. We are ‘stoked’ to have Stokes and The Lost Trailers get our listeners excited for kickoff each week.”
